Mana Lomi® Massage
Simon has studied various types of holistic therapies since 2005 such as Acupressure, Aromatherapy, Thai Massage, Thai Foot Reflexology, Traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and Shiatsu. His parents have been the biggest supporters in his life and they always encouraged him to do the right thing, to go with his intuition, and to live freely and happily.
"My passion and foundation of this work is love. Through meditation, I remembered the first massage my dad gave me when i was a child. He returned from a trip around South East Asia and gave me Thai massage on my hands and feet, limbs, and back. I remembered the feeling and the healing that took place through massage. When my dad got back home from work late at night, I would sing and walk on my dad from toe to upper back. It was pure joy and it was out of love. I love this work.
"My active lifestyle led me to study Personal Training Program at Mount Royal. I loved what I did, however my passion was in healing work. I enrolled in Acupressure Therapy Program in 2005 and that's how it all began. Acupressure Therapy led me to Thai Massage. Thai Massage led me to Lomi Lomi. I visited Chiang Mai, Thailand to study in 2007, 2009, and 2015. I wanted to experience and to breathe the essence of Thai Massage through Thai culture, spirit of the land, and people. I honour all my teachers and teacher Ong for sharing her knowledge and wisdom passed down from Dr Shivago. My work is Chiang Mai style that is more gentle, flowing, and rhythmical compared to Southern style.
"An aromatherapy class in Chiang Mai led me to Lomi Lomi. My journey began in 2009. After completing 350 hour Authentic Lomi Lomi program in Vancouver, I fell in love with it. I needed to visit Hawaii and learn from the original source, and once again, I had to experience and to breathe the essence of Hawaiian culture, spirit of the land, and people. I wanted to improve and to learn, and my focus was to "problem solve" when clients came in with problems. I came across Mana Lomi® website and it said "problem solving." Without hesitation, I signed up for the intensive program plus Level 3 course in 2010. It was a life changing experience and Dr. Maka'ala Yates helped me with the awakening process. His wisdom, skill, knowledge, experience, love, humour, bright shining light, and humbleness affected everyone around him. He is my role model, guidance, Kumu (teacher), and bruddah. I have been attending the intensive program each year, and there is always more to learn and expand.
"Maka'ala inspired me to 'dig deeper into the rabbit hole' with this work. He helped me to realized that I really had to grasp and to understand the human body in order to be more efficient and effective. This work is very specific. I had to enroll at massage therapy school and completed 2200 hour program at MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy in 2013.
"I live with intention to bring light in myself first, and obtain it, so I can help others to bring light in themselves."
